EMS Geotech was established in 2006, and our scope and client base has steadily increased year on year. This is due to our client focused approach and high client retention rates.
Our experienced consultants have experience across a wide range of geotechnical and geo-environmental fields, including contaminated land, geotechnics, permeability drainage and ground gas. This breadth of experience means that we are able to cater for a wide-ranging level of services for our clients.
Ground Investigations can very often reveal the unexpected, and when necessary we work with specialist consultants such as hydro-geologists for groundwater risk assessment and mining consultants for mineral deposit evaluation. We also work with third party specialist consultants relating to asbestos in soils, pile design, drainage design, radon and phosphates in soils.
Olivia joined EMS Geotech as a Geo-Environmental Engineer in September 2019 and is an active member of our small team taking responsibility for a vast array of geotechnical services for clients in Herefordshire. Olivia particularly enjoys all aspects of site work and is client focussed. She is a familiar face for many of our repeat clients.
Olivia graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2013 with a degree in Geology and Ocean Science. Following this, she worked as a Senior Logging Geologist for Halliburton based on oil rigs in the North Sea for two years. Olivia then worked as an Engineering Geologist for Soil Engineering Geoservices for three years before joining EMS Geotech in 2019. This role saw Olivia working on a variety of projects, including small projects, ground investigations and factual reporting. Olivia also worked on large projects including HS2 and the A82 dualling and undertake roles including Logging Engineers, Field Engineer and Technical Manager.
Olivia works on a variety of projects geotechnical projects for EMS Geotech, including Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site and Ground Investigations, Ground Gas Risk Assessments, CBR Testing and Soakaway and Percolation Testing.
Jamie has over 20 years of experience in the asbestos industry as an asbestos consultant. He is p402, p405 and IOSH qualified with excellence technical knowledge of regulatory procedures and health, safety and quality. Jamie takes an active role in the company, including site work and training.
During his career, Jamie has been instrumental as an asbestos consultant on many large projects. These have included large PFI hospital demolitions, high value, multi-million-pound industrial projects, nuclear power stations and rail projects. Alongside these large individual projects, Jamie has also advised clients with significant property portfolios including major UK high street retailers and several NHS Trusts. Jamie’s expertise and wealth of experience has meant that he has not only coordinated survey projects for these clients, but also implemented strategic asbestos management programmes to ensure effective management of asbestos and ensure clients meet compliance fully.
Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer
Andrew has over 20 years of geological experience. After 18 years working in engineering geology consultancy, Andrew joined EMS Geotech in 2018. During his career, Andrew has applied his geological expertise to various fields including archaeology, mining, hydrology & hydrogeology, geo-conservation, geotechnical engineering and contaminated land. He has worked on various small to large geo-environmental / remediation and geotechnical projects relating to residential, commercial and light industrial, waste, highways, water and electrical utilities. His role involves leading the EMS Geo-Environmental team, managing and supervising intrusive investigations and remediation works and providing pragmatic solutions and technical advice to meet client’s needs.
Andrew’s experience includes constructing landfill caps, cell bunds and installing gas ventilation systems; assessing contamination and geotechnical risks; foundation and basement design; geomorphological mapping; pipeline installations; flood alleviation; highways improvements and construction; remediation; slope stability, ground gas and mining risk assessment. With EMS his experience is expanding to include flood risk assessment and assessing asbestos in soils and nutrient enrichment impacts on sensitive river catchments.
Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer
Our newest team member, Ella Young joined EMS Geotech as a Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer in June 2021.
Ella graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2009 with degree in geology which ignited a passion for earth sciences. Since then, she has completed a PhD in geology at Cardiff University where she carried out an extensive fieldwork-based research project. Following that Ella has done internships at Neftex, part of the Halliburton Group, and with the Remote Sensing department at Plymouth Marine Laboratory. Ella then joined the Hereford & Worcester Earth Heritage Trust, a local geo-conservation charity, to work on a National Lottery funded project. In that role Ella became familiar with the geology of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and experience working with stakeholders including local authorities, landowners, volunteers, and various experts.
Since joining EMS Geotech Ella has gained valuable experience in Soakaway and Percolation Testing, Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site and Ground Investigations. Ella has especially enjoyed the variety of jobs, working on sites, and working with the expanding Geotech team.
